2025 Nissan Altima

Performance 

Nissan offers two different powertrains for the Altima model line. Most grades feature a 2.5-liter DOHC inline-4, producing 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque on FWD models. The AWD model engine is rated at 182 hp and 178 lb-ft. The engine is combined with a very efficient continuously variable transmission (CVT). When sending power to the front wheels, it has an EPA-estimated highway rating of up to 39, with city and combined ratings of 27 and 32, respectively. AWD models are rated at 36 on the highway, with 26 in the city and 30 combined.  

All Altima models have a 4-wheel independent suspension with aluminum struts, coil springs, a stabilizer bar up front, and a multi-link rear suspension with a stabilizer bar. SR and SL models feature Active Ride Control, which includes technology designed to reduce vehicle pitching when passing over a bump by automatically applying a very small amount of braking at a precise moment. The braking is too light to slow the vehicle down appreciably, but it three pre-paid oil changes and free multi-point inspections does dampen the pitch motion more than the vehicle using shock absorbers alone, making the vehicle more comfortable. These same grades also feature Intelligent Trace control, which also applies subtle braking individually to wheels to keep the vehicle lane centered when taking a curve. 

Exterior 

The Altima has a clean, sporty appearance from the large V-Motion grille and sweeping LED headlight clusters up front to the side window, emphasizing the length of the car, particularly with the unique break between the upper and lower pillar at the rear that stretches to define the lower edge of the rear window. All grades above the S include active grill shutters and a rear decklid spoiler for aerodynamic efficiency and rear downforce. Wheels start with 16 inches on the S model, growing to 17-inch alloys on the SV, with 19-inch alloys for the SR and SL models.  

Interior 

The interior is aimed directly at the business of driving with a flat-bottomed 3-spoke steering wheel and white-on-black analog gauges. The center touchscreen is mounted high to match the driver’s eye line from the gauges, and below is a full set of physical controls for the climate control system.  

Space is generous for five adults, with 35.2 inches of legroom and 57.1 inches of shoulder room in the rear seat. Behind the rear seat is 15.4 cubic inches of cargo space. Using conveniently placed releases in the trunk, the rear seatbacks fold down with a 60/40 split to maximize cargo space for each number of passengers, increasing to a total of 58.1 cubic feet of space with both rear seats folded.  

Technology 

SV and SR grades and above feature an 8-inch center touchscreen with a 12.3-inch screen available on those grades and standard on the SL grade. Similarly, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ and wireless charging are available on the SV and SR while standard on the above grades. SV grades and above include a USB-A and USB-C data connection port up front and two of the same ports for charging in the rear. Also standard on all models is hands-free phone connection, text messaging, Bluetooth audio streaming, and Siri Eyes Free®/Google Assistant™ Voice Recognition. 

A 6-speaker audio system with RDS and an aux input is standard on S, SV, and SR grades, with SL and 2.0 SR grades equipped with a 9-speaker Bose® Premium Audio System. The Nissan Connect subscription service is free for three years on all but the base model. It works with the MyNISSAN smartphone app and offers features such as remote door lock/unlock, remote engine start/stop, vehicle health report, emergency calling, and Nissan Skill for Amazon Alexa®. 

Safety and Driver Assistance 

Nissan Safety Shield® 360 is standard on all Altima grades and includes:

SL adds an Intelligent Around View Monitor for a 360-degree view around the vehicle and Traffic sign recognition, which will spot certain road signs, including those for the speed limit, and display them in the instrument cluster. 

Standard on Altima SL available on SV, ProPILOT Assist helps the driver keep the vehicle in the center of the lane. It provides Intelligent Cruise Control to keep a set speed when free to do so and maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead when traffic is present. Intelligent Cruise Control can slow the vehicle to a complete stop when traffic is congested. 

Like all Nissan models, the 2025 Altima includes the Nissan Maintenance Care program, which includes three pre-paid oil changes and free multi-point inspections within 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first.
