The Glorious 2025 Nissan Murano Driving On The Road

The Nissan Murano has always been a pleasant and well-balanced crossover that finely toes the line between luxury without being too posh and is still very usable as an everyday driver. Now, for 2025, Nissan is rolling out the red carpet once again, this time to show off its latest mid-size crossover SUV with a whole host of welcomed changes and upgrades.

A New Engine and Transmission

The engine is one of the most significant differences between the current generation Murano and the 2025 model, which has been in production since 2014. Out is the V6 with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and in their place is a VC-Turbo 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 that produces 241 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Unlike some modern cars with turbo engines, the Nissan Murano is able to use regular gasoline.

A CVT No More

These are big changes; however, they are sure to make the Murano more responsive, especially when merging onto a highway or driving around town. Both the 9-speed gearbox and the variable compression VC-Turbo engine will have better overall performance and match the right gear to the driving situation.

Exterior Design

The latest design is similar to the recently released Nissan Kicks with LED light bars under the main headlights. But, in the case of the Murano, the horizontal LEDs are of varying lengths, which helps to show off the sculpted front bumper. Moving to the side of the vehicle, the new Murano has a very sleek side profile with silver trim that leads from the A-pillar all the way to the D-pillar, where it nearly meets up with the LED taillights. Those taillights are also a bright and bold stream extending from one side of the rear to the other, only breaking in the middle for the Nissan badge. Murano is spelled out in big, bold letters on the tailgate, with the trim level and AWD (if equipped) listed at the bottom of the cargo door.

Trim Levels

The 2025 Nissan Murano will be available in three trims: SV, SL, and Platinum. Front-wheel drive is standard on the SV, with all-wheel drive being optional. The SL and Platinum trims offer AWD as standard. The top trim also offers massaging front seats with a head-up display system. SV and SL models come standard with 20-inch wheels with a special aero cover, and the Platinum has 21-inch wheels with an aero cover.

You Will Love What’s Inside

A vehicle’s exterior is always what gives off the best initial impression. The interior will make a buyer fall in love with a car. For 2025, the Nissan Murano has a cabin that will impress everyone. Nissan says the new interior is modern, minimalist, and elegant. There are now dual 12.3-inch displays, one being a digital cluster while the other is the touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are featured across the trim levels. Throughout the interior, including around the screens, are soft-touch materials, with some being stitched. An available 64-color ambient lighting feature brings warmth and calm in all situations. Thanks to a push-button shifter, the Murano frees up quite a bit of space in the center console area.

Safety Comes Standard

Even with all of the amazing features and upgrades, Nissan engineered the latest Murano to be the safest and best model yet. Standard across the range is Nissan Safety Shield 360, which brings Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, High Beam Assist, Bling Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure, and more. The available ProPILOT Assist utilizes Cruise Control and Steering Assist for hands-free highway driving. SV and Platinum models get ProPILOT Assist 1.1, which uses the navigation system to know whether curves are coming ahead and slows down accordingly.

Nissan says the all-new 2025 Murano will arrive at Nissan of Rochester sometime in early 2025.
