New Nissan Kicks Shows How to Do Affordable
The all-new 2025 Nissan Kicks is starting to take the streets by storm and show everyone that a small crossover doesn’t have to be some boring piece of normal transportation. Instead, it can look great, get good gas mileage, and be fun to drive and cost efficient (as it starts from just $21,830).
2025 Nissan Kicks Review by Jalopnik
In a recent review from Jalopnik.com, Collin Woodard came away believing the new Nissan to be one of the best cars on sale in America, saying, “As a practical daily driver at an affordable price, Nissan has basically nailed it. It’s more grown-up. It’s nicer inside. It has more power. It’s more spacious. It offers all-wheel drive. And it’s still one of the least expensive cars you can buy right now.”
Power, Transmission, and Fun Colors
The latest second-generation Kicks is available in three trim levels that include S, SV, and SR. It is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine that produces 141 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque and is combined with an Xtronic CVT. While front-wheel drive is standard, the Kicks can also be optioned with all-wheel drive. While many carmakers offer boring colors on their entry level vehicles, Nissan has seen to it that the Kicks can be painted in fun and bright colors like Yuzu Yellow Metallic, Monarch Orange Metallic, Electric Blue Metallic, among others.
The Interior Is a Nice Place to Be
Collin spoke very highly of the fact that even though the Kicks was made to have a simple interior design, it was one that buyers would appreciate. “Inside, the cabin is relatively simple, but it’s nicely laid out … In a world where functions are regularly buried in menus on touchscreens, it was nice to be able to hop into the Kicks and just drive without needing a tutorial first. As for the screens the Kicks does have, the base model comes with a 7.0-inch driver display and a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen. Higher-end models have a 12.3-inch center screen, and the top trim that we drove adds a 12.3-inch driver display as well.”
Many Crossovers Offer a Nice Package
We know that the styling is fun and that the interior is simple and well laid out, but how comfortable is the Kicks? Lots of small cars and crossovers usually offer a compelling package but once you get to driving, the seats feel less comfortable than you originally thought, the driving position isn’t that great, and rear passengers are kind of cramped.
The Kicks Offers Buyers More Than a Nice Package
The Kicks, however, seems to be just fine in all of these areas, according to Jalopnik, as the editor said: “Nissan generally does well with seats, and the ones in the new Kicks are no exception. It’s hard to know how much more drained I would have been by the end of my drive in another car, but I was surprised how refreshed I felt after a couple of hours. When you show up to review one of the least expensive vehicles in the U.S., you expect there to be some compromises, but there really weren’t. Rear passengers also get an extra inch of legroom, which they’ll definitely appreciate. The last Kicks wasn’t exactly known for its spacious back seat.”
Standard Safety and Maintenance Plan
No matter which 2025 Nissan Kicks you buy, all models come standard with Nissan Maintenance Care, which covers buyers for three oil changes and multi-point inspections for two years, up to 24,000 miles. Nissan Safety Shield 360 is also standard across all Kicks models and includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and High Beam Assist. S and SV models come with Intelligent Cruise Control. The SR adds ProPILOT Assist, which works with the Intelligent Cruise Control to give steering assistance to keep the vehicle centered in the lane. These trims also feature Intelligent Around View Monitor, a class-exclusive, that offers a full 360-degree view around the car when parking. Easy-Fill Tire Alert (which honks when you have filled a tire with the correct amount of air), Rear Door Alert, and Intelligent Driver Alertness are standard.
