Newsweek Awards Rogue as A Top Vehicle for New Parents
A generation or two ago, new parents would look to an affordable sedan or maybe a 4-door hatchback as the car to accommodate their new life stage. Today, the compact crossover covers the blend of affordability, space, utility, and economy that new parents need. This is why compact crossovers make up the best-selling segment in the U.S. Within that category, Nissan of Rochester is proud to announce that the 2024 Nissan Rogue was named a Top Pick in the New Parents category by Newsweek in the 2024 Annual Autos Awards.
The 2024 Rogue has been lauded for its family friendliness before. It probably didn’t hurt that the Rogue was significantly updated for the 2024 model year with new styling and more available technology. 2025 adds a new Rock Creek model for the outdoor inclined. Another likely contributing factor is that the Rogue offers the most standard safety features in its class.
“We are honored that the editors of Newsweek recognized the convenient, family-friendly features of the Nissan Rogue with this ‘Top Pick’ award,” said Ponz Pandikuthira, Senior Vice President and Chief Planning Officer, Nissan Americas. “The customer is at the heart of all we do, and this latest award for Rogue is a superb endorsement of Nissan’s commitment to excellence in meeting the mobility needs of our customers and their families.”
Starting with 2024 models, all Rogues are equipped with the Nissan Safety Shield® 360, which includes these safety technologies:
- Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
- Blind Spot Warning
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Lane Departure Warning
- Rear Automatic Braking
The Rear Door Alert is a unique safety feature that is also standard on the Rogue. The system reminds drivers that they may need to check the rear seats before they leave. It operates by monitoring rear door use. If the rear door is used before a trip but is not re-opened after the ignition is off and the car is in park, the driver will be notified to check the rear seats. The technology was inspired by Nissan USA Industrial Engineer Elsa Foley and Mechanical Engineer Marlene Mendoza after she left a tray of lasagna in her car overnight. “The worst thing was the car smelled for days, but it made me ask myself, ‘What if that had been something else back there?’”
Another useful feature is that the rear doors open nearly 90 degrees, making installing or removing a child seat or getting the child in and out of the car seat easier. The rear seat offers flexible and convenient child seat installation in all three seating positions – so adults or older children can sit on either side of a center-positioned child seat.
It takes a surprising amount of things to move a tiny little person from one place to another, so the Rogues provides 36.5 cubic feet behind the second-row seats. When the baby is not on board, the cargo space can grow to 74.1 cubic feet, which is perfect when you decide the baby’s room needs a rocking chair.
The innovative 1.5-liter VC-Turbo engine keeps the Rogue affordable to operate. It delivers the power you need and returns fuel economy of 28 city / 35 highway / 31 combined for AWD models.
If you are a new parent needing a new car or just someone who wants a great compact crossover, come to Nissan of Rochester and test-drive the award-winning Rogue.
