Nissan Celebrates 55 Years of Z History with Heritage Edition Model
The Nissan Z is blowing out 55 candles on its birthday cake this year, and it has only gotten better with age. When it came to the United States in 1969, the Datsun 240Z was a game changer. It featured a 2.4-liter inline-6 with 151 horsepower. Later models would become the 260Z and 280Z, and finally, the 300ZX in 1984 would become the first Nissan-branded Z car in America. For 2024, the Nissan Z Heritage Edition celebrates the long line of brilliant sports coupes that came before it.
Trim Levels and Performance
The 2024 Nissan Z Sport and Performance trim levels have a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 under the hood that produces 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque in Sport and Performance trim levels, with either a 6-speed manual or no-cost optional 9-speed automatic transmission. The Performance trim level offers a limited-slip differential and Nissan Performance brakes with red calipers. The range-topping Z NISMO has the same engine with 420 horsepower, 384 lb-ft of torque, and a 9-speed automatic. In testing, Car and Driver says the manual Z will get from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, while a Z with the automatic does the same deed in 4.3 seconds. The NISMO model has yet to be performance tested.
Limited and Special
This special, limited-production Heritage Edition Z uses the Performance trim and adds Sight Orange exterior paint to pay tribute to the original 1969 240Z. A tweaked front fascia with rectangular grille openings, 19-inch wheels, and fender extensions take you back to the time of the original 240Z. A Heritage-specific black vinyl racing stripe goes over the hood, roof, and trunk lid, while the same stripe is on the sides of the Z, and an exclusive Heritage Edition decal surrounds the Z logos behind the rear quarter windows.
