Nissan Frontier Has Better Resale Value Than Toyota Tacoma

The Nissan Frontier has been on sale in the United States since 1997, and in that time it has sold well over a million trucks in that time. It is one of the best-selling trucks on the market. And, with this latest generation, winning accolades from journalists and owners.

Higher Resale Value

Frontier has the strongest resale value in the midsize truck category, and yes, this includes the Toyota Tacoma. Current projections show that midsize Nissan will retain 88.6% of its value over the next 5 years of ownership, which is greater than its Toyota competitor. 

Price & Features

The 2024 Nissan Frontier has a base MSRP of $29,770 and has a 3.8-liter V6 that produces 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque that is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Far more than what is offered with the Toyota Tacoma. Tacoma comes standard 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine with 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. Tacoma buyers can upgrade to the 3.5-liter V6 engine for 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque, so even then, Frontier wins. Frontier also has a higher two rating and payload capacity.

With the availability of either an extended cab, called King Cab or the 4-door Crew Cab, the Frontier can be the perfect truck to fit most of your needs. The EPA estimates that drivers can achieve up to 18 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, respectively, with a combined range of as much as 441 miles. 

If buyers want an ultimate version of the Frontier, the PRO-X and PRO-4X are purely built for off-roading and are distinguished by their Lava Red exterior and interior accents. PRO-X and 4X models come standard with off-road Bilstein shocks, 17-inch wheels, and all-terrain tires. The PRO-4X having four-wheel drive, also features a locking differential, and extra underbody skid plates for added protection when driving off-road. 

When you buy a truck, you may want to do some towing, and the Frontier has you covered with a max towing capacity of 6,720 lbs. You can also choose either a 5 or 6-foot bed configuration. 

Technology

All trim levels have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, with PRO models getting wireless CarPlay and Auto, along with a wireless charging pad. An optional Fender premium sound system with 10 speakers, a WiFi hotspot, and Intelligent Around View Monitor. The Frontier PRO-4X adds a special Off-Road Mode to the surround view camera monitoring system.
