Nissan Frontier named ‘Mid-Size Pickup Truck of Texas’ at 2023 Texas Auto Writers Association Truck Rodeo

The 2023 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X has been a genuine hit, being loved and appreciated for its size and usability by anyone who has driven it. The Texas Auto Writers’ Association obviously agrees as they have awarded the Frontier with the Mid-Size Pickup Truck of Texas award.

What is TAWA?

The Texas Auto Writers’ Association (TAWA) was founded in 1987 with the mission to promote quality and accuracy in automotive reporting, whether it be online content, print or broadcast media.

How Did The Frontier Win?

At the annual Truck Rodeo in September of 2023 held at the Eagles Canyon Raceway off-road course in Decatur, Texas, automotive journalists drove numerous trucks and SUVs and ranked them by exterior, interior, value, performance, and overall personal appeal. In the mid-size category, the Nissan Frontier came out on top in all of those categories.

Power, Usability, And A Special Edition

The 2024 Nissan Frontier is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 that produces 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. The PRO-4X trim level is also able to tow up to 6,270 when properly equipped. The EPA estimates that the Frontier PRO-4X will get 17 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. For 2024, buyers can spec the Frontier with the Hardbody Special Edition package, which is an homage to the original hardbody small trucks of the 1980s that are so beloved by the truck enthusiast community. With 17-inch wheels that harken back to the old school heritage style wheels, along with all-terrain tires, fender flares, black bumpers and mirrors, black exterior graphics, a lower front fascia, a sport bar mounted over the bed, and an aluminum skid plate, the Frontier can be fully equipped with a nostalgic, but modern appeal.
