The 2024 Nissan Versa is a Great Value Starting at Just $16,130
New cars are safer, better equipped, more convenient, and more efficient than ever. But it comes at a cost. The average cost of a new car in 2023 is $47,061. That is an astounding figure for anyone who hasn’t bought a new car lately. Just five years ago, the average was $38,783, which already wasn’t exactly pocket change and has risen 6% each year since.
What’s more, the higher cost of new cars has also brought up the cost of used ones. What is a budget-minded person in need of a car to do? Nissan of Rochester has two words: Nissan Versa.
The 2024 Nissan Versa’s starting price is $16,130. At almost a third of the average new car price, it is the lowest starting MSRP of any new car sold in the U.S. There are four trim levels, and even the highest model barely breaks $20K. Here is the MSRP breakdown:
Model | Transmission | MSRP |
---|---|---|
Versa S | (5-speed manual) | $16,130 |
Versa S | (Xtronic CVT) | $17,800 |
Versa SV | (Xtronic CVT) | $19,420 |
Versa SR | (Xtronic CVT) | $20,140 |
But this would be a short article if we could only discuss the Versa’s price. For 2023, the Versa was styled with a sharp, upscale look that closely resembles Nissan’s larger sedans. It is a small sedan, but it will seat four comfortably and five in a pinch. In fact, it offers the best front legroom and headroom in its class. Perhaps even more surprising is that even the least expensive Versa model comes standard with the Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite of driver-assist technologies, including:
- Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
- Lane Departure Warning
- Rear Automatic Braking
- High Beam Assist
Additional standard convenience features include:
- Cruise Control
- Rear View Monitor
- Hill Start Assist
- Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control System
A bump up the model line to the SV adds Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and the Intelligent Driver Alertness system, along with niceties like alloy wheels, AppleCarPlay integration, and even a wireless charger. The SV adds Intelligent Cruise Control, NissanConnect® 8″ color touch-screen display, heated front seats, and plenty of other upscale features, still at the cost of less than half of the new car average. The Versa is powered by a 1.6-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine producing 122 hp with a peak torque of 114 lb-ft. In the entry-level model, it is connected to a fun 5-speed manual transmission, which is a rarity in a new car these days. Available on the S and standard on the rest of the Versa lineup is Xtronic CVT® (Continuously Variable Transmission) from the company that has built more CVTs than any other manufacturer. While the Versa won’t win any quarter-mile trophies, it will get you around town and up to speed on the freeway just fine.
The value of purchasing a Versa doesn’t stop with the purchase price. The base Versa S with a manual transmission has an EPA estimated city/highway/combined mpg of 27/35/30. All other Versa models deliver a hybrid-like 32/40/35. Just to highlight, that is 40 mpg on the highway. The Nissan Versa is a stylish way to beat the new car cost blues. But we understand if you want to verify that for yourself. We encourage it. So, visit Nissan of Rochester at 4642 E Frontage Rd, in Rochester, and check out the Nissan Versa for yourself.
