Performance

For 2025 the standard Leaf S has a 110-kW electric motor that provides 147 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque with a 40kWh battery pack, while the SV Plus has a 60kWh electric motor that produces 214 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. With e-Pedal drivers can change between different brake regeneration modes on the fly. One mode allows you to coast when you let your foot off the throttle, similar to a gas-powered car, with another mode automatically applying the brakes when you take your foot off the throttle pedal, which then helps to recharge the battery.

While no one would consider the Leaf fast by any means, it is able to get up and go quickly since it is a pure EV, meaning there is no lag when you push the throttle. In the hands of Car and Driver the Leaf S was able to achieve a 0-60 mph time of 7.4 seconds, with the SV Plus model needing only 6.8 seconds.

When it comes to charging the Leaf, buyers can use either a standard 120-volt or 240-volt outlet, or a Level 3 DC fast charger. A Level 1 standard wall outlet will add about 2-5% of battery every hour. Nissan says that using a Level 2 240-volt charger will charge both the S and SV Plus trims to full in 11.5 hours, while a DC fast charger can give the Leaf 80% range in just 40 minutes for the S and 60 minutes for the SV Plus.

According to the EPA, the 2025 Leaf S has a total range of 149 miles while the SV Plus has 212 miles of driving range.

Exterior

Each Leaf model features a large black grille with black inner accents in the headlights that was previously chrome. The front and rear fascias went from blue to black for the 2023 model update and stay that way for 2025.

The Leaf looks sporty and has a very sleek and slippery design. This helps the Nissan EV to achieve a .28 drag coefficient, making it especially efficient.

S models have standard 16-inch wheels with Bridgestone Ecopia low rolling resistance tires that are good for range efficiency.

SV Plus models add LED low beam headlights and daytime running lights plus 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels and all-season Michelin Energy Saver tires.

Interior

The 2025 Leaf gives drivers and passengers a comfortable, usable interior that offers exactly what is needed for any type of commute. The rear seats are especially roomy and offers lots of comfort for long drives.

Behind the rear seats you will find 23.6 cu.ft. of cargo space, which is good enough for 7 suitcases, according to Car and Driver. With the rear seats folded owners will have a total of 30 cu.ft., which again will give room for 19 suitcases. Total interior volume is 116 cu.ft.

S models receive standard 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat with 4-way power for the passenger. SV Plus features an 8-way power driver seat that includes 2-way lumbar support.

SV Plus models also add heated front seats, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, along with a hybrid heater that aids the Leaf in warming the cabin.

Technology

The standard NissanConnect infotainment system features an 8-inch display that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, plus a total of four USB ports for connectivity and charging. Owners can set an EV charging timer, as well as a timer for the HVAC system that lets you pre-warm or pre-cool your Leaf before you get back into it.

SV Plus models add Nissan Door to Door navigation and NissanConnect EV, which comes with a 3-year subscription free of charge. This feature allows owners to use their smartphone to check and change charging settings, do route planning, and more.

Safety

The 2025 Nissan Leaf is dedicated to being a safe automobile for all occupants, which is why it features Nissan Safety Shield 360 that includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Automatic Braking. Buyers who opt for the SV Plus trim will also get Intelligent Driver Alertness, Intelligent AroundView Monitor, and ProPILOT Assist. ProPILOT Assist works in conjunction with Intelligent Cruise Control and adds Steering Assist for highway cruising.

Battery Warranty

The Nissan Leaf features an 8-year, 100,000 mile battery warranty, and an additional 8-year, 100,000 mile battery capacity loss warranty if the vehicle battery shows fewer than 9 bars of capacity on the battery capacity level gauge.
